Privacy Policy
Effective September 11, 2026
This policy explains how Homeplate ("Homeplate," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and retains information when you use our United States-focused meal-planning service. See our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy for disclosures required by applicable consumer health privacy law.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Homeplate, we collect:
- Account and contact information, including your email address, name, and email preferences.
- Meal-planning and household information, including household members, cooking preferences, dietary preferences, nutritional and health goals, and other instructions you choose to provide.
- Content and activity, including prompts, generated and saved plans and recipes, edits, grocery lists, and recipe interactions.
- Technical and usage information, including IP address, transactional identifiers, security and error events, login and activity timestamps, activity-session identifiers, and interactions with pages, plans, and emails.
- Communications, including information you include when contacting us for support or feedback.
We receive information directly from you, automatically from your browser and use of the service, and from service providers such as our hosting and email provider when they report delivery, bounce, complaint, open, or click events.
How we use information
We use information to provide, personalize, maintain, and improve Homeplate; authenticate accounts and prevent abuse; generate and save meal plans, recipes, and grocery lists; remember preferences; deliver requested, weekly, and marketing communications according to your settings; measure engagement; troubleshoot failures; protect users and the service; respond to requests; and comply with law.
AI processing
Homeplate uses a third-party large language model provider to generate and revise meal plans, recipes, and related content. The material sent for generation may include your prompt, relevant saved food and cooking preferences, prior plan content, requested edits, and recipe reactions. We do not need to send your account email address to our LLM provider to generate this content. Do not include information in a prompt that is unnecessary for meal planning.
How we disclose information
We disclose information only as reasonably necessary for the following purposes:
- Service providers. Our cloud hosting provider supports hosting, storage, security infrastructure, and email delivery. Our LLM provider processes meal-generation inputs and outputs. A web-font provider supplies fonts loaded by our pages and may receive network information such as your IP address and browser request details.
- User-requested sharing and integrations. If you choose to connect Homeplate to a grocery-delivery or other service, or ask us to send information to another person, we may disclose only the information needed to carry out your request. We will identify the recipient and the information to be sent before initiating the connection or disclosure.
- Legal and safety purposes. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, enforce our rights, investigate fraud or security incidents, or protect people and the service.
- Business transactions. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law and the commitments in this policy.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers. We have no affiliates with which we share consumer health data.
Cookies, browser storage, and analytics
Homeplate uses a secure, first-party cookie to keep you signed in and first-party browser storage to remember settings, support temporary workflows, and help us understand product use. We do not use these technologies to track you across unrelated websites.
Our analytics may include account, session, and plan identifiers; timestamps; interactions with Homeplate; and email delivery, open, and link-click activity. We use this information to measure engagement, improve the service, and troubleshoot problems. Email-open measurements may be affected by image blocking and email privacy features.
Because Homeplate does not track you across third-party websites or sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals do not currently change how the service operates.
Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Account information and saved content are generally retained while an account remains active. Authentication, temporary workflow, operational, and analytics records are retained for shorter periods based on security, troubleshooting, and product-improvement needs. Information may remain in backups or be retained when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, or enforcing agreements.
Using the in-product "Delete account" action deactivates the account but does not currently erase every associated record immediately. To request deletion of stored profile information, meal-planning content, analytics, or consumer health data, email us as described under Your choices and privacy requests.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can update your profile, household and personalization information, automatic weekly-plan preference, and marketing-email preference in Account Settings. Account, security, and emails you specifically request cannot be disabled through marketing settings. You may remove optional profile information or deactivate your account at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of information; withdraw consent; or appeal our response to a request. To make a privacy request, email hello.homeplate@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request." Describe the request and the Homeplate account email involved. We may verify your identity before acting. If we deny a request and applicable law provides an appeal right, reply with the subject "Privacy appeal" and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Children
Homeplate is intended for adults age 18 and older and is not directed to minors. Individuals under 18 may not create accounts or submit personal information directly to us. An adult account holder may provide limited household information about a child for meal-planning purposes. If you believe a minor submitted personal information directly to us, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and encrypted network connections. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
United States availability
Homeplate is currently intended for users in the United States. We do not currently market or offer the service specifically to users outside the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Homeplate changes. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice or obtain permission before materially expanding how previously collected information is used when required by law.
